Style. A Matter of Upbringing?

Saying a simple hello.

A polite goodbye when leaving a shop, a restaurant, or a social situation —

Is this slowly disappearing?

Online, it’s become common not to greet or say goodbye at all.

People go straight to the point — often without any basic courtesy.

If you’re lucky, you’ll get a hey.

Honestly?

That could’ve been left out too.

I don’t even say hey to my dog.

Speaking of pets —

It’s funny how we greet and part from animals more kindly than we do with people.

I get it, to be honest.

With them, there’s a response.

But still — I won’t forget my manners toward humans.

It’s also tasteless to be constantly too busy.

We all know the pattern:

You get a message or email, someone asks something specific —

You reply promptly, out of respect.

And then?

Silence. No reaction. Not even a thank you.

People should slowly relearn the basics of respectful behavior.

Otherwise, we may as well all move into the zoo.

Although —

I’m not sure the monkeys would want us there.

Because if you observe how they interact socially…

Well, we could actually learn something from them.

Personally, I refuse to drop my standards.

If someone reaches out, I respond.

I don’t leave people waiting.

And I still believe —

perhaps in a distant future —

that this might come back to me.

Or maybe not.

Because style has nothing to do with fashion.

Nothing to do with makeup, attitude, or throwing money around.

True style begins with the smallest acts of courtesy —

the ones we were once taught as children.

Some people may call it old-fashioned, but I still believe in style and manners.

There was a time when a bow, a “Kiss the hand”,

had weight.

It showed respect toward the person standing in front of you.

And that meant something.

But today, if people can’t even be bothered to write a simple Hello in a chat —

Five letters.

But they’ll still type 500 meaningless words just to kill time —

Then no, our sense of manners and style will not return.

I don’t need it like this.

And I won’t live like that either.
