Yoga outfits with only a sports bra in the middle of city centers?

In general, I believe: Everyone should wear what they feel comfortable in – and of course, it’s a little bonus if it also looks good. But I leave this self-assessment up to each person, because fashion is ultimately something very personal.

Still, sometimes I catch myself asking: Is it really appropriate to be out in the city center – surrounded by historic buildings, operas, theaters, banks, and business zones – wearing only a sports bra? Especially in cities without a beach and where the nearest sandy beach is maybe 500 kilometers away? Honestly, I’m torn on this. On the one hand, as I said, everyone should decide freely. On the other hand, for me, the city center often has a different character than the way to yoga or a workout in the park.

This has several reasons for me – and no, not because I’m prudish or think it doesn’t suit most people. On the contrary, these outfits often look fantastic. But in these areas, there are rarely yoga or fitness studios, and if you’re honest, the look there is often not “practical” but consciously chosen.

For one, we live today in an incredibly diverse, multicultural society. There, very different lifestyles, values, and habits meet. Sometimes these views also clash – and that can lead to misunderstandings, especially in an environment where you are as visible as right in the city.

On the other hand, an outfit made up only of a sports bra and leggings can seem to some observers like a deliberate eye-catcher. Some passersby might see this as an invitation to approach or compliment – whether intended or not.

And thirdly – and this is personally important to me – I think city centers deserve a certain etiquette. I don’t mean that one should appear stiff or old-fashioned. But personally, I find it nice when at 4 PM you are dressed so that you could spontaneously go to the theater or a chic bar. And yes – before anyone thinks I mean strict dress codes – I also like to wear ripped jeans sometimes. But it’s precisely this mix of casualness and a certain elegance that makes the charm for me.

In the end, as so often, it remains my very personal opinion. I am absolutely for individuality and freedom in fashion – but I think that a touch more elegance in our city centers would further emphasize the special character of these places.
