I have spent almost all of my previous stays in Dubai on Palm Jumeirah – both in hotels and in Airbnb apartments.
My preferred hotel was usually the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, mainly because it is located a little away from the hustle and bustle. Since I always had a rental car during my stays, the location was never a disadvantage for me.
There is one thing to keep in mind, however: If you stay on the outer ring of the Palm and do not have a rental car, you are largely dependent on taxis or hotel shuttles. From many hotels, getting around on foot is simply not practical. The monorail runs from Atlantis towards the mainland, but depending on where your hotel is located, the walk there can be anything but short. Many hotels offer shuttle services, although these usually operate only at certain times.
Taj Exotica Resort & Spa
A beautiful five-star hotel with an impressive entrance, spacious interiors, plenty of light-coloured marble and elaborate floral decorations.
During all of my stays, I found the staff exceptionally attentive and accommodating – from housekeeping and reception to the beach staff.
At my request, I almost always had a room in the middle of the second or third floor overlooking the Palm and the sea. At around 38 m², the rooms are spacious and pleasantly understated in their design. My personal highlight, however, is the balcony: having an espresso in the evening while looking out over the Palm and the two Atlantis hotels is one of my favourite moments there.
The pool is exceptionally large and offers plenty of space. There is also a rooftop restaurant with an impressive view in the direction of the Burj Al Arab. In addition, there is a very good Indian restaurant as well as a sports bar where the food is surprisingly good.
Breakfast also leaves little to be desired: European, Indian and American dishes – the selection is enormous.
There is one thing, however, that is absolutely not to my taste: live music at breakfast. Visually, it is certainly nicely staged, but in the morning I personally need peace and quiet rather than violin music. On some days, this actually made my breakfast considerably shorter.
The beach area is beautiful, although I think the cabanas and lounging areas could be designed to a slightly higher standard for a five-star hotel. And of course, one should remain realistic: it is a beautiful beach, but it is not a beach like those in the Maldives or the Caribbean.
Despite my generally very positive experiences, I will probably not book this hotel again in the future. In December 2025, I wanted to reserve two suites for a stay with five people and asked the hotel, as a member, for a personal price offer. However, the offer was around 40% higher than the price available on a well-known online booking platform.
I pointed this out to the hotel and asked for a revised quotation. Even this was still around 15% higher than the price on the booking platform. Although I am usually quite easy-going about things like this and am often willing to overlook something, this approach annoyed me. Especially with a direct request from a returning guest, I would have expected at least a competitive offer or an appropriate extra.
That does not change the fact that I always found the staff extremely accommodating during my stays, and I still rate the hotel 4 out of 5. For me personally, however, this experience was the reason why I will choose a different hotel in the future.

Hotels on the Palm
Palm Jumeirah offers an enormous choice of hotels in a wide variety of styles – from the modern W Dubai – The Palm to the opulent Raffles The Palm, which, for my taste, almost reminds me of classic European grand hotels.
Personally, I am more drawn to modern, clean architecture.
I find Atlantis The Royal particularly impressive. The entrance alone is extraordinary, as is the overall architecture and the fountain show. If you would like to see the hotel, you can, for example, reserve a table at one of its many restaurants. However, I would definitely recommend checking the prices beforehand – the level is accordingly high.
I deliberately do not want to list restaurant recommendations at random here. This guide is unpaid and based exclusively on my personal experiences. Anyone who would like more detailed information is welcome to get in touch via the VITA MAISON Concierge.
At some bars with a direct view of the show, you should also expect a minimum spend. Simply sitting down and ordering only a bottle of water may not necessarily be possible there.
Atlantis, The Palm
The original Atlantis is, of course, one of Dubai’s landmarks and, due to its location at the top of the trunk, is hard to miss.
I have seen quite a lot there, from the aquarium to restaurants and cafés, as well as the spectacular rooms with huge glass panels overlooking the aquarium. The aquarium itself is definitely impressive.
After several visits, however, I personally feel that I have seen enough. There is a great deal of activity around the hotel, and with the monorail and the many visitors, the area can sometimes almost feel like a transport hub. That is simply not entirely my personal style.
Exploring the Palm
My recommendation: If possible, drive around the Palm with a rental car and explore it for yourself.
Outside the hotels, the density of restaurants on the outer ring is comparatively low. Around some resorts – such as Anantara – you will find additional options.
On the trunk of the Palm, however, there is considerably more to discover: Palm West Beach, numerous hotels, restaurants and beach clubs make this area much livelier.
You normally cannot access the individual fronds with their private villas without an invitation. The entrances are guarded. Completely understandable in my opinion: if someone pays several million for a villa, they probably do not want groups of tourists outside their front door every day.
My Conclusion
Personally, I really enjoy staying on Palm Jumeirah when I am in Dubai. I particularly like the distance from the hustle and bustle of the city. You return to your hotel and feel as though you have escaped Dubai for a few hours, even though you are actually right in the middle of it.
Of course, you pay a corresponding premium for this location. However, there are also some hotels on the Palm that are priced considerably below the absolute luxury addresses.
My tip: Do not search only by hotel name, but compare different dates and areas on booking platforms. The price differences can be considerable.
There are countless other top hotels on Palm Jumeirah. In this guide, however, I only review hotels that I have personally visited myself.
Fast alle meine bisherigen Dubai-Aufenthalte habe ich auf der Palm Jumeirah verbracht – sowohl im Hotel als auch in einem Airbnb.
Mein bevorzugtes Hotel war dabei meist das Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, gerade weil es etwas abseits vom Trubel liegt. Da ich bei meinen Aufenthalten immer einen Mietwagen hatte, war die Lage für mich kein Nachteil.
Eines sollte man allerdings bedenken: Wer am äußeren Ring der Palme wohnt und keinen Mietwagen hat, ist weitgehend auf Taxis oder Hotel-Shuttles angewiesen. Zu Fuß kommt man von vielen Hotels nicht sinnvoll weg. Die Monorail fährt zwar von Atlantis aus Richtung Festland, aber je nach Hotel ist der Weg dorthin zu Fuß alles andere als kurz. Viele Hotels bieten Shuttle-Services an, diese fahren jedoch meist nur zu bestimmten Zeiten.
Taj Exotica Resort & Spa
Ein wunderschönes Fünf-Sterne-Hotel mit einem beeindruckenden Entrée, großzügigen Flächen, viel hellem Marmor und aufwendiger Blumendekoration.
Das Personal habe ich bei all meinen Aufenthalten als ausgesprochen aufmerksam und zuvorkommend erlebt – vom Housekeeping über die Rezeption bis zum Strandpersonal.
Auf meinen Wunsch hatte ich beinahe immer ein Zimmer mittig im zweiten oder dritten Stock mit Blick auf die Palme und das Meer. Die Zimmer sind mit rund 38 m² großzügig und angenehm dezent eingerichtet. Mein persönliches Highlight ist allerdings der Balkon: Abends einen Espresso zu trinken und dabei auf die Palme sowie die beiden Atlantis-Hotels zu schauen, gehört für mich zu den schönsten Momenten dort.
Der Pool ist außergewöhnlich groß und bietet viel Platz. Auf dem Dach befindet sich zudem ein Restaurant mit beeindruckendem Blick in Richtung Burj Al Arab. Dazu kommen ein sehr gutes indisches Restaurant sowie eine Sportsbar, in der man überraschend gut essen kann.
Auch das Frühstück lässt kaum Wünsche offen: europäische, indische und amerikanische Gerichte – die Auswahl ist enorm.
Eine Sache ist allerdings überhaupt nicht mein Geschmack: Live-Musik beim Frühstück. Optisch durchaus schön inszeniert, aber morgens brauche ich persönlich Ruhe und kein Geigenspiel. An manchen Tagen hat das dazu geführt, dass mein Frühstück deutlich kürzer ausgefallen ist.
Der Strandbereich ist schön, wobei ich finde, dass man Cabanas und Liegebereiche für ein Fünf-Sterne-Haus noch etwas hochwertiger gestalten könnte. Und natürlich sollte man realistisch bleiben: Es ist ein schöner Strand, aber kein Strand wie auf den Malediven oder in der Karibik.
Trotz meiner grundsätzlich sehr positiven Erfahrungen werde ich dieses Hotel in Zukunft vermutlich nicht mehr buchen. Im Dezember 2025 wollte ich für einen Aufenthalt mit fünf Personen zwei Suiten reservieren und bat das Hotel als Member um ein persönliches Preisangebot. Dieses lag allerdings rund 40 % über dem Preis einer bekannten Buchungsplattform im Internet.
Ich wies das Hotel darauf hin und bat um einen neuen Kostenvoranschlag. Auch dieser lag noch immer rund 15 % über dem Preis der Buchungsplattform. Obwohl ich bei solchen Dingen eigentlich recht umgänglich bin und auch gerne einmal ein Auge zudrücke, hat mich diese Vorgehensweise geärgert. Gerade bei einer direkten Anfrage eines wiederkehrenden Gastes hätte ich zumindest ein konkurrenzfähiges Angebot oder ein entsprechendes Extra erwartet.
Das ändert nichts daran, dass ich das Personal während meiner Aufenthalte immer als ausgesprochen zuvorkommend erlebt habe und das Hotel weiterhin mit 4 von 5 Punkten bewerte. Für mich persönlich war diese Erfahrung jedoch der Grund, künftig ein anderes Hotel zu wählen.

Hotels auf der Palm
Die Palm Jumeirah bietet eine enorme Auswahl an Hotels und unterschiedlichsten Stilrichtungen – vom modernen W Dubai – The Palm bis zum opulenten Raffles The Palm, das für meinen Geschmack schon fast etwas an klassische europäische Grand Hotels erinnert.
Ich persönlich fühle mich eher zu moderner, klarer Architektur hingezogen.
Besonders beeindruckend finde ich Atlantis The Royal. Schon das Entrée ist außergewöhnlich, ebenso die gesamte Architektur und die Brunnen-Show. Wer das Hotel einmal sehen möchte, kann beispielsweise einen Tisch in einem der zahlreichen Restaurants reservieren. Vorher würde ich allerdings unbedingt einen Blick auf die Preise werfen – das Niveau ist entsprechend gehoben.

Bei einigen Bars mit direktem Blick auf die Show sollte man außerdem mit einer Mindestkonsumation rechnen. Einfach Platz nehmen und nur ein Wasser bestellen funktioniert dort nicht unbedingt.
Atlantis, The Palm
Das klassische Atlantis ist natürlich eines der Wahrzeichen Dubais und durch seine Lage am oberen Ende des Stamms kaum zu übersehen.
Ich habe dort vom Aquarium über Restaurants und Cafés bis hin zu den spektakulären Räumen mit riesigen Glasflächen zum Aquarium einiges gesehen. Das Aquarium selbst ist definitiv beeindruckend.
Nach mehreren Besuchen reicht es mir persönlich allerdings auch. Rund um das Hotel ist sehr viel Betrieb, und durch die Monorail und die vielen Besucher entsteht teilweise fast eine Verkehrsknotenpunkt-Atmosphäre. Das ist einfach nicht ganz mein persönlicher Stil.
Die Palm entdecken
Meine Empfehlung: Wenn möglich, die Palm einmal mit dem Mietwagen abfahren und selbst entdecken.
Außerhalb der Hotels ist die Restaurantdichte auf dem äußeren Ring vergleichsweise gering. Rund um einige Resorts – etwa beim Anantara – findet man zusätzliche Möglichkeiten.
Am Stamm der Palme gibt es dagegen deutlich mehr zu entdecken: Palm West Beach, zahlreiche Hotels, Restaurants und Beachclubs machen diesen Bereich wesentlich lebendiger.
Auf die einzelnen Palmwedel mit den privaten Villen kommt man ohne Einladung normalerweise nicht. Die Zufahrten sind bewacht. Für mich absolut nachvollziehbar: Wer mehrere Millionen für eine Villa bezahlt, möchte wahrscheinlich nicht täglich Touristengruppen vor seiner Haustür haben.
Mein Fazit
Ich persönlich wohne in Dubai sehr gerne auf der Palm Jumeirah. Gerade der Abstand zum Trubel der Stadt gefällt mir. Man kommt zurück ins Hotel und hat das Gefühl, für einige Stunden aus Dubai herauszukommen, obwohl man eigentlich mitten darin ist.
Natürlich bezahlt man für diese Lage einen entsprechenden Aufpreis. Es gibt jedoch auch auf der Palme einige Hotels, die preislich deutlich unter den absoluten Luxus-Adressen liegen.
Mein Tipp: Nicht nur nach Hotelnamen suchen, sondern auf den Buchungsplattformen verschiedene Termine und Bereiche vergleichen. Die Preisunterschiede können erheblich sein.
