Dubai Marina

Of course, I have also been to Dubai Marina two or three times.
Do I like Dubai Marina? Hard to say.
For me, it is one of the most touristy areas of Dubai – alongside the area around the Fountain near the Burj Khalifa. You also see noticeably more classic tourists there and, in some cases, backpack travellers. I do not mean that negatively at all – it simply shows that you can also stay around the Marina for considerably less than, for example, on the Palm or in other luxury locations.
Marina Walk
The promenade is very pleasant for walking, and you can watch the many boats and yachts departing from there for their tours.
If you want something a little more spectacular, you can even take the zipline across the Marina.
Certainly an exciting experience.
Although I have almost overcome my fear of heights by now, this experience is still not on my bucket list.
Whether it will ever make it onto the list, I honestly do not know yet.
Marina Mall
Dubai Marina Mall is also located directly by the Marina.
For my taste, it looks slightly older and not quite as high-end as, for example, Dubai Mall or Mall of the Emirates.
Mall of the Emirates, by the way, is one of the best malls in Dubai for me and personally even one of my favourites – but more on that later.
Restaurants at the Marina
Along Marina Walk, one restaurant follows the next.
The choice is large, and there should be something for almost every taste.
Personally, however, I find the whole area just a little too touristy. In Dubai, I usually prefer areas that feel somewhat quieter or less focused on classic visitor flows.
But as always: that is purely a matter of personal taste.
My Conclusion
Dubai Marina is definitely worth seeing at least once.
The skyline around the canal, the yachts, the promenade and the overall atmosphere are clearly part of Dubai.
For me personally, however, it is more a place I enjoy looking at and walking through – but not necessarily an area where I would want to spend a longer period of time or live.
Natürlich war ich auch schon zwei- oder dreimal in der Dubai Marina.
Mag ich die Dubai Marina? Schwer zu sagen.
Für mich gehört sie – neben dem Bereich rund um den Fountain beim Burj Khalifa – zu den touristischsten Gegenden Dubais. Man sieht dort auch deutlich mehr klassische Touristen und teilweise Rucksackreisende.
Das meine ich überhaupt nicht negativ – es zeigt einfach, dass man rund um die Marina auch deutlich günstiger wohnen kann als beispielsweise auf der Palm oder in anderen Luxuslagen.
Marina Walk
Auf der Promenade kann man sehr angenehm spazieren gehen und dabei die vielen Boote und Yachten beobachten, die von dort zu ihren Touren starten. Wer es etwas spektakulärer möchte, kann sogar mit der Zipline über die Marina fliegen. Sicher ein spannendes Erlebnis.
Obwohl ich meine Höhenangst mittlerweile beinahe besiegt habe, steht dieses Erlebnis allerdings noch immer nicht auf meiner Bucket List. Ob es irgendwann darauf landet, weiß ich ehrlich gesagt auch noch nicht.
Marina Mall
Direkt bei der Marina befindet sich außerdem die Dubai Marina Mall. Für meinen Geschmack wirkt sie optisch etwas älter und nicht ganz so hochwertig wie beispielsweise die Dubai Mall oder die Mall of the Emirates.
Die Mall of the Emirates gehört für mich übrigens zu den besten Malls in Dubai und ist persönlich sogar eine meiner Favoriten – dazu aber später noch mehr.
Restaurants an der Marina
Entlang der Marina Walk reiht sich ein Restaurant an das nächste. Die Auswahl ist groß und für nahezu jeden Geschmack dürfte etwas dabei sein. Mir persönlich ist die gesamte Gegend allerdings einen Hauch zu touristisch.
Ich bevorzuge in Dubai meistens Bereiche, die etwas ruhiger wirken oder weniger stark auf klassische Besucherströme ausgerichtet sind. Aber wie immer gilt: Das ist reine Geschmackssache.
Mein Fazit
Die Dubai Marina sollte man sich auf jeden Fall einmal ansehen. Die Skyline rund um den Kanal, die Yachten, die Promenade und die gesamte Atmosphäre gehören eindeutig zu Dubai. Für mich persönlich ist es allerdings eher ein Ort, den ich mir gerne ansehe und durch den ich spazieren gehe – aber nicht unbedingt die Gegend, in der ich längere Zeit verbringen oder wohnen möchte.
Aber das ist wie immer eine reine Geschmacksache
