Bluewaters Island
Bluewaters Island is very easy to reach by rental car. My first tip, however, starts as soon as you park: Make sure to take a photo of where you left the car. The parking garage is large enough to make you spend considerably more time looking for your car later than you would like.
What I particularly like about Bluewaters is the combination of restaurants, the promenade and the beautiful views of JBR and towards Palm Jumeirah. You can take a relaxed walk all the way to the enormous Ain Dubai or cross the pedestrian bridge directly to JBR.
I have eaten on Bluewaters many times by now, mainly because the choice is enormous. Italian, Greek, Turkish, Arabic, Japanese, Chinese – you can find something for almost every taste.
The only downside to having so much choice: Where do you actually go?
SHI
I personally found SHI very good and have been there several times.
Asian cuisine, very good makis, and I also really enjoyed the noodle dishes. They also have a nice selection of wines and champagne – although I drink neither wine nor champagne, so I can only comment on the selection.
In terms of price, the restaurant is in the higher range, but considering the location, quality and atmosphere, I found the value for money very good.

PastaMamma
Next is PastaMamma, serving Italian cuisine.
I really enjoyed both the pizza and pasta there. What I found particularly interesting were the prices: A pizza for around €13 to €17 now feels quite inexpensive to me for an international city like Dubai – in some cases cheaper than in Northern Italy and, in my opinion, almost just as good or even better.
My rating is slightly lower only because the location does not offer any particularly special view, and for me the restaurant is more about good, uncomplicated food than a special dining experience.

I have also visited the Greek restaurant Miya and personally found it very good.

The Pods
I also think The Pods is quite a fun idea. You sit in private, gondola-like pods while dining. The whole concept feels quite romantic and is certainly something a little different.
However, I have not yet actually eaten there. For that reason, there is no rating from me.
And that is exactly how I want to keep it: There are many more interesting restaurants on Bluewaters, but I only write about places where I have personally eaten or had something to drink.
A Café Without a Name …
A few corners away from the promenade, there is also a small café whose name I unfortunately cannot remember – even though I have already been there twice.
Homemade little cakes, tea and a beautiful interior entirely decorated in beige. I really liked it there as well.
If the name comes back to me, I will of course add it.
Something else I noticed during my visits in general: The staff in all the restaurants were exceptionally friendly, attentive and accommodating.
Shopping on Bluewaters
Bluewaters also has a mall, although during my visits it was not yet fully occupied.
There are some shopping opportunities both inside and outside the mall. Personally, however, shopping is not the main reason I go to Bluewaters.
Ain Dubai
I cannot say much about the Ferris wheel itself from personal experience.
Up close, Ain Dubai is definitely impressive, and the view from the top must be phenomenal.
But personally, nobody is going to get me voluntarily into one of these oversized constructions floating high up in the air. So, at least for now, the view will have to manage without me.
My Tip: Continue to JBR on Foot
After eating, I would recommend a digestive walk across the pedestrian bridge to JBR.
The views are beautiful, you get to experience both areas together, and after all, a few steps after dinner have never hurt anyone.
Parking Tip
One more practical tip for drivers:
If you park in the garage, ask the restaurant about parking validation. During my visits, the staff were able to register the licence plate accordingly, which meant there were no parking charges.
However, I would briefly confirm this on-site each time, as such rules can of course change.
My Conclusion
For me, Bluewaters Island is definitely worth a visit – especially in the late afternoon and evening, when you can combine dinner, the promenade and the views, perhaps followed by a walk to JBR.
Which restaurants you like best is, of course, entirely a matter of personal taste. As with my entire Dubai guide, the same applies here:

Bluewaters Island ist mit dem Mietwagen sehr einfach zu erreichen.
Mein erster Tipp allerdings schon beim Parken: Unbedingt fotografieren, wo das Auto steht. Die Parkgarage ist groß genug, um später deutlich länger nach seinem Auto zu suchen, als einem lieb ist.
Bluewaters selbst gefällt mir vor allem wegen der Mischung aus Restaurants, Promenade und dem wunderschönen Blick auf JBR und in Richtung Palm Jumeirah.
Man kann gemütlich bis zum riesigen Ain Dubai spazieren oder über die Fußgängerbrücke direkt nach JBR gehen.
Ich war mittlerweile viele Male auf Bluewaters essen, vor allem weil die Auswahl enorm ist. Italienisch, griechisch, türkisch, arabisch, japanisch, chinesisch – eigentlich findet man für beinahe jeden Geschmack etwas.
Der einzige Nachteil bei so viel Auswahl: Wohin geht man eigentlich?
SHI
Das SHI fand ich persönlich sehr gut und war dort auch mehrmals. Asiatische Küche, sehr gute Makis und auch die Nudelgerichte haben mich überzeugt. Dazu gibt es eine schöne Wein- und Champagnerauswahl – wobei ich weder Wein noch Champagner trinke und daher lediglich die Auswahl beurteilen kann.
Preislich liegt das Restaurant im gehobeneren Bereich, das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis fand ich für Lage, Qualität und Ambiente aber sehr gut.

PastaMamma
Als Nächstes PastaMamma mit italienischer Küche. Pizza und Pasta haben mir dort sehr gut geschmeckt. Interessant fand ich vor allem die Preise: Eine Pizza für ungefähr 13 bis 17 Euro empfinde ich für eine internationale Großstadt wie Dubai mittlerweile als ziemlich günstig – teilweise günstiger als in Oberitalien und meiner Meinung nach beinahe genauso gut oder sogar besser.
Meine Bewertung fällt nur deshalb etwas niedriger aus, weil die Lage keinen besonderen Ausblick bietet und das Restaurant für mich eher gutes unkompliziertes Essen als eine besondere Dining Experience ist.

The Pods
Eine ziemlich witzige Idee finde ich auch The Pods. Dort sitzt man beim Essen in privaten, gondelartigen Pods. Das Ganze wirkt durchaus romantisch und ist einmal etwas anderes. Ich bin allerdings bisher nicht dazu gekommen, dort tatsächlich zu essen. Deshalb gibt es von mir auch keine Bewertung.
Und genau dabei möchte ich bleiben: Auf Bluewaters gibt es noch eine Menge weiterer interessanter Restaurants, aber ich berichte nur über Lokale, in denen ich selbst konsumiert habe.
Ein Café ohne Namen … Ein paar Ecken von der Promenade entfernt befindet sich außerdem ein kleines Café, dessen Namen ich leider vergessen habe – obwohl ich bereits zweimal dort war.
Selbstgemachte kleine Kuchen, Tee und ein sehr schönes, komplett in Beige gehaltenes Interieur. Auch dort hat es mir ausgesprochen gut gefallen. Sollte mir der Name wieder einfallen, ergänze ich ihn natürlich.
Was mir übrigens bei meinen Besuchen generell aufgefallen ist: Das Personal war in allen Restaurants ausgesprochen freundlich, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend.
Shopping auf Bluewaters
Auf Bluewaters gibt es außerdem eine Mall, die bei meinen Besuchen allerdings noch nicht vollständig belegt war. Einige Shoppingmöglichkeiten findet man sowohl innerhalb als auch außerhalb der Mall. Für mich persönlich ist Shopping aber nicht der Hauptgrund, nach Bluewaters zu fahren.
Ain Dubai
Zum Riesenrad selbst kann ich aus eigener Erfahrung wenig sagen. Aus der Nähe ist Ain Dubai definitiv beeindruckend und der Ausblick von oben dürfte phänomenal sein. Nur bekommt mich persönlich niemand freiwillig in derartige überdimensionierte Konstruktionen, die hoch oben durch die Luft schweben. Somit muss die Aussicht zumindest vorerst ohne mich auskommen.
Mein Tipp: Zu Fuß weiter nach JBR Nach dem Essen würde ich einen Verdauungsspaziergang über die Fußgängerbrücke nach JBR empfehlen. Die Aussicht ist schön, man erlebt beide Bereiche miteinander und ein paar Schritte nach dem Essen haben schließlich noch niemandem geschadet.
Park-Tipp Noch ein praktischer Tipp für Autofahrer: Wer in der Garage parkt, sollte im Restaurant nach der Parkvalidierung fragen. Bei meinen Besuchen konnte das Personal das Kennzeichen entsprechend registrieren, wodurch keine Parkgebühren anfielen. Das würde ich allerdings jeweils vor Ort kurz bestätigen lassen, da sich solche Regelungen natürlich ändern können.
Mein Fazit
Für mich ist Bluewaters Island definitiv einen Besuch wert – besonders am späteren Nachmittag und Abend, wenn man Essen, Promenade, Aussicht und anschließend vielleicht noch einen Spaziergang nach JBR miteinander verbinden kann. Welche Restaurants einem am besten gefallen, ist natürlich reine Geschmackssache.
Wie bei meinem gesamten Dubai-Guide gilt auch hier: Das sind meine persönlichen Erfahrungen und Eindrücke.
Wir haben alle unterschiedliche Wünsche – und genau deshalb sollte sich jeder sein eigenes Bild machen.
